Projects
P001—Global Mission Fund
The GMF has been set up to encourage and mutually support missionary
initiatives by members of the AWF.
Projects should serve to:
- encourage local efforts,
- give help for training
- travel, rental language study
- stimulate strategic partnerships between national churches for
reaching the least reached
Project criteria:
- Consistent with the 10 purposes in Article Three of the AWF constitution
- It should supplement local or national funding (matching
for projects to a maximum of 50%)
- Cannot substitute for national church support
- Must enhance the reaching of least reached people groups
- Establish an expectation for the timing and type of accountability
and financial reporting
- Try approaches designed to stimulate local giving, like matching
funds
- Goals for ministry achievement and local funding should be clear,
measurable and achievable
- strive to encourage the release of local funds whenever possible.
Local resources are preferred over non-local or distant, even if
local resources may take longer to secure.
- We realize the dangers and pitfalls of out-of-culture resourcing
or funding, especially the danger of unhealthy dependence, and
commit ourselves to limiting those dangers when such funding is
necessary.
- We further affirm that local church planting is the privilege
and responsibility of the national/regional/local church
and indigenous sodalic/apostolic movements. As such, church
planters and church plants should, as a guiding rule, only be funded
out-of-culture when other means of resourcing, bi-vocational ministry
included, are unavailable or impractical.
- Funding for projects should have a clearly defined exit strategy
including time frame, training for raising local funds, various
points of evaluation and should include at least 50% local funding.
Administration of the Fund
- Final approval for projects by the AWF Executive Committee
- Original applications to the Regional Committee with projects
being introduced to the AWF Excom by the Regional Coordinator
- Applications to the Regional Committee must come through the
national church board or the missions board/committee/department
where it exists
- Regular reporting and listing of needs
Administration of the fund is separate from inter-regional missionary
allocation. |
